A clever way to save cash if you've got the storage room to spare is to buy your car cleaning products in bulk. Most manufacturers offer large options of cleaning products that work out cheaper than buying a single litre example. Add in the fact that most cleaning products won't go bad for ages and it does make sense to buy the larger product.
The only downside to these larger bottles is that they often lack a way of effectively spraying the product onto your car's body. They'll often come with a simple screw cap that leaves you needing to source a spray bottle. And while there isn't a massive variation in spray bottle design, there are a couple of things you should be looking for. We've selected our favourites, looking at value and quality as well as the key factors needed for car cleaning:
A transparent bottle will make dilution quicker while keeping it accurate, important as most quality shampoos will be concentrated.
An adjustable nozzle will allow you to choose between a jet and mist spray, allowing you to target specific areas while also being used for generalised cleaning.
Labels will help prevent cross-contamination and allow you to easily identify a chosen product easier, good for when you have several, similar-looking products in identical bottles.

The best spray bottle for car cleaning
Our favourite spray bottle is this good-value, well-made option from Gtechniq. With a capacity of 750ml, it's perfect for car cleaning, especially with the adjustable nozzle and semi-transparent design. In fact, the only issue with this bottle is the lack of labelling, although that won't be an issue if you have a permanent marker.
The best spray bottle for car cleaning for dilution
Another solid choice for car cleaning, the Dilution Bottle with Natural Sprayer from Chemical Guys is a very effective choice for car cleaning. Totally transparent, it's very easy to accurately dilute car products and features a handy label for easy identification. The only issue with this set is the nozzles aren't adjustable.
The simplest of spray bottles, this triple pack is packed with quality. Like the Gtechniq, they have a 750ml capacity, come with an adjustable nozzle for both mist and jet sprays. It also features an indented measuring guide for accurate dilution and is semi-transparent so you can see how much product you have. You'll need to be handy with the permanent marker but they do come in different colours, which is perfect for easy identification.
The best spray bottle for shampooing your car
While a traditional spray bottle is good for most car cleaning products, it isn't much good if you're wanting some foaming action. The Gloria Foammaster FM10 is designed to produce a thick, clingy foam that is ideal for applying shampoo to a car. It works with any cleaning product with a pH value between 5 and 10 meaning car shampoo will be fine and the foaming consistency can be adjusted between three settings. Overzealous pressurising won't be an issue either, the Foammaster features a safety value. Overall it's a great (if rather specialist) option of a spray bottle.
