We're a nation of pet lovers, aren't we? We love cats, dogs, rabbits, horses, the list goes on and on. We also love taking our pets on walks in nature which often means loading them into our cars, which nearly always results in pet hair sticking to every conceivable space in your car.

And not only is this unsightly and difficult to remove, it's also no good if you have to ferry around someone with pet allergies. As such we've found the easiest ways to remove pet hair from your car's upholstery, looking at price, ease of use and how easy they are to clean.

The best pet hair removal brush for the car
Meguiars X1140EU Hair and Fibre Removal Brush
Price: $16.76

Rubber bristles are really good for lifting pet hair from fabrics because they are abrasive enough to lift the hair but won't damage the existing fabric. This interior brush from Meguiar's is designed to remove lint and pet hair from carpets and fabric and is our top pick for keeping your car clean.

A more universal option for cleaning pet hair, the microbristles are just as good for cleaning carpets and upholstery as for cleaning clothing of pet hair and lint. The handle is adjustable for easier cleaning but our favourite bit about this is that it's self-cleaning. By simply returning the brush to its base it'll pull the fluff and har off the brush and into the base where it can be easily emptied.

The best pet hair removal brush for easy cleaning
Kleeneze Pet Hair Eraser Block
Price: $15.82

A different take on pet hair removal, this eraser does without the handle but does come with rubber teeth all around that are great at lifting pet hair from all sorts of fabrics, including clothing. The eraser is then simply washed under a tap to remove all the collected hair. It's a more sustainable lint roller, even if it means you'll need to look at clumpy wet hair.

Even the best pet hair removers will struggle to get into the awkward areas of your car. While that's partially down to the fact that the sides of a car seat are voids where nothing escapes, this 14cm crevice device is specially designed to reach these impossible locations with ease. While it's not the best for regular work, as a specialised tool it's worth every penny.

The best vacuum cleaner for pet hair removal
Gtech Multi MK2 K9 Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

Rrp: $179.00

Price: $129.99

An incredibly impressive portable vacuum cleaner that reminds us of the fantastic Lotus Exige in that it's ridiculously light (1.5kg) and has a very powerful motor (22V). It also offers a class-leading 20 minute run time and this K9 model is made with aluminium internals to cope with the extra stresses posed by pet hair.

The best budget vacuum cleaner for pet hair removal

If the price of the Gtech is making your eyes water don't worry, some excellent pet vacuum cleaners are a good bit cheaper. This Shark manages to be lighter than the Gtech and offer a slightly larger storage bin (0.45-litres to 0.4) but the battery life is only half that of the Gtech. We'd still recommend it because it's cheaper yet still comes with a raft of attachments and an enticing two-year warranty.
