Gtechniq C6 Matt Dash: Quick review

Interior dressing sounds like an unnecessary car cleaning extra but can offer great protection for your interior. Does Gtechniq C6 Matt Dash achieve this?

Salad dressing. It adds flavour to an otherwise bland-tasting collection of vegetables. Can an interior dressing enhance a car interior to an equally impressive level? More specifically, can Gtechniq's C6 Matt Dash interior dressing achieve this?

Gtechniq's C6 Matt Dash looks like it belongs in the medicine cabinet, but this isn't nasal spray. It's a protectant intended to stave off UV damage, liquids, and dust. We've tested a few Gtechniq products before and found them to be very good. But those were staples like shampoo and cloths. What about something extra like an interior dressing?

Gtechniq certainly isn't messing around with its claims. C6 Matt Dash looks to be one of the most durable interior protectants available. It claims to provide four months' worth of protection from one application. All words and no substance? Let's find out.

Verdict: It lives up to the claims, and that is very impressive.

Score: 4.5/5

What's good?

Put simply this is the best interior protectant we've tested and the best currently available. Unlike the (also rather pricey) Angelwax Enigma Interno, for example, C6 Matt Dash does make an immediate and noticeable difference to treated trim. UV-worn plastic is rejuvenated and bears a partially matte finish.

Application is about as easy as it could possibly be. Spray C6 Matt Dash onto a foam applicator pad and wipe it onto the clean surface. Spread it evenly across surfaces and wipe away any residue with a microfibre towel, though you use this sparingly and shouldn't have any excess. The treated surfaces didn't become greasy, and didn't reflect glare onto the windscreen thanks to the matte finish.

A lot of interior dressings and cleaners can inject life back into trim and not be greasy. But C6 Matt Dash tops them all because of its durability. As days became weeks, the finish on the treated areas didn't degrade. C6 Matt Dash is also supposed to be antibacterial. We didn't have any realistic way of proving if it is, but it's not exactly a crucial feature anyway.

What's okay?

If you like fragrances in car cleaning products, you'll have to accept that C6 Matt Dash doesn't really have one.

You also need to remember C6 Matt Dash isn't a cleaner, it's a protectant only. It's unapologetically focused on protection, and we don't think that's a bad thing. It just means you'll need to use it in tandem with a cleaner.

Any negatives?

While C6 Matt Dash is about the best interior protectant out there, it's also one of the most expensive. Adjusted for parity, C6 Matt Dash would cost over £35 for 500ml, which is several times more expensive than Duel Autocare Satin Interior Detailer, for example.

You'll also need your own foam applicator pad, or buy one seperately because C6 Matt Dash doesn't come with the option to ship with one.
