Would you like to know why Lamborghini gifts are popular? The famous story goes that an Italian businessman was so successful in making tractors, he decided to treat himself to some car gifts. But not on the scale that we're covering at CAR, but on the scale of then-new Ferraris, Maseratis, and Mercedes'. He loved cars and was passionate about engineering since his military mechanic days in the second world war.

Ferruccio Lamborghini had a Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina which was experiencing clutch issues. In total spite of his disagreements with Enzo Ferrari, he began Lamborghini Automobili. The rest they say, is history. Although it's worth noting he actually kept that same 250 GT until 1970.

Nevertheless, Lamborghini is one of the world's most famously outrageous car manufacturers. Open up nearly any car book, and Lamborghini will have a mention somewhere. Since the debut of the Miura in 1966, it has become known for pushing the boundaries of car design and doing its outmost to be on the ragged edge of extreme. The Countach, the Diablo, the Murcielago, all inspired generations of kids with their many wings, fat tyres, and scissor doors. Not to mention of course the absurdity in the soundtracks across the model range.

Editor's pick

Ideal for a youngling on a special day, this Lego Countach is perhaps the best of the Speed Champions series. It's distinctive wedge shape allows for the bricks to equal some relative accuracy.

Judging by the build, it certainly resembles a later 1980s car like a 5000QV. It's a fun thing to build and satisfying to play with and look at once you or the young recipient completed it.

Pros

  • The best Speed Champions model yet
  • White adds extra 80s cool points

Cons

  • The accuracy is still not entirely perfect

The best Lamborghini RC car

For younger petrolheads, a perfect gift for them can come in the form of a radio controlled car. We've all had them at some point, so why not treat a growing petrolhead to one of the most influential cars of the 2010s?

The Aventador may be associated with the art of showing off in Knightsbridge at 10pm, but as a product, it did what a Lamborghini should. That was to inspire generations and act as a dream machine for many. Unfortunately, there are no V12 noises in the RC car, but it does get working lights which is a neat feature.

Pros

  • Working lights
  • All the fun for a younger petrolhead

Cons

  • The controller's design isn't brilliant

Perhaps it's an age thing, but there's something fairly nostalgic about the barking 5.2 litre V10 engine that made its way into Lambos since the Gallardo. Given it will be out of production soon, there's a strong chance that we'll miss it.

But while decent examples of V10s are six figures, you'll be pleased to know that this 1:43 scale model of the Huracan Performante isn't anywhere close. It still has all the colours and shapes that we love about modern Lamborghinis. It's just shrunk down a little.

Pros

  • Lovely model of a Huracan Performante
  • Lots of detail for not a lot of money

Cons

  • The quality won't be as great as Minichamps or the like

Best Lamborghini model

best Lamborghini giftsVia Minichamps
Price: $66.27

For many, the Murcielago was the definitive Lambo for the modern generations. It was launched at a time when the internet was beginning to buzz and Top Gear dominated our screens.

Those days are long gone, but you can admire the significance of the original iteration of the Murcielago in 1:43 form. It's not an LP640 or an SV, but the basic shape and nostalgia factor is still the same. This model possesses typical Minichamps quality and detail, making it perfect for a nice gift to someone.

Pros

  • Great detail and quality
  • Yellow is a fab colour for a Murcielago

Cons

  • Unfortunately not an LP640

Best Lamborghini hoodie

As well as the legendary Miura, two other late 60s raging bulls are represented on this fabulous hoodie that'll warm you up in the autumn months.

One of which is the Islero. Produced for just one year between 1968-69, it was the slightly forgotten successor to the 400 GT and the car which suited Ferruccio's original idea as a Ferrari-beating Gran Turismo.

The other is the Espada which was produced for nine more years and went on to be over five times as successful as the Islero in terms of sales (225 units vs 1,227). So, it's fair to say, this hoodie has a story to tell.

Pros

  • Neat prints of important Lambos
  • Great value hoodie

Cons

  • Limited choice in colours

The coolest Lamborghini print

The V12 mid-engined Lambos are easily the most famous in the line up. They created the most impact, the most dreams among 10 year olds with posters on their wall. They're dream machines and will settle for nothing less.

The print is available in a range of colour combinations (we suggest multicolour 1) and sizes that will suit anywhere in your home. If you're a Lamborghini evangelist, you need this displayed in your room.

Pros

  • Fine print of V12 mid-engined cars overtime
  • Comes in variety of colours

Cons

  • Doesn't include new Revuelto

Coolest Lamborghini accessory

The beginning of The Italian job was one of the most evocative opening sequences in cinema history. The orange Miura hurtling across the Alps with the soundtrack of Matt Monro and that glorious Bizzarrini-designed V12 engine. An effortlessly cool part is when the driver was putting on his sunglasses mid-corner. We've all dreamt of doing the same thing, bar parking on the vertical end of a bulldozer.

Nevertheless, even if you don't have a Miura, you can still drive up an Alp and elegantly have your sunglasses at the ready. You can place in them in this lovely Lamborghini-themed sunglasses holder which you can place on your sun visor. It will affect the view of some vehicles, so it's worth considering the 16.5cm x 3.3cm x 1.9cm dimensions for yourself and determining whether it'll work for you.

Pros

  • A very cool way to store your sunglasses
  • Universal fit

Cons

  • Some will think it's quite tacky

What makes Lamborghini special?

Most will say it's the relentlessness of the styling conventions. Lambos have always been fairly mad since the introduction of the Countach and the aggressive aura still lives on today. It's the ultimate poster appeal that the likes of Ferrari or Porsche simply haven't matched. Talking of which, we've also done a Porsche gift guide as well.

However, we reckon the relentless pursuit for outdoing Ferrari and overengineering the products is a factor too. The 350 and 400 GT were sublime machines in their own right, and they drove fabulously to the point where period road testers at the time and enthusiasts today agree they were the better driving cars than Ferraris of the same ilk. Bizarrini's V12 was designed to be reliable as it was powerful, and Ferruccio's determination to create the perfect Gran Turismo is inspirational. In terms of the modern day Lambos, it's even possible to book a driving experience for yourself, so you can make your own mind up.

What's the greatest Lamborghini of them all?

It's so easy to go for the Miura or some iteration of the Countach. Most people would and books on car design are required to mention their prowess to the scene. However, a front-engined car will be way better suited for the road. So, we're opting for 400 GT or Espada.

What about the worst?

Objectively speaking, the LM002. But that was so crazily cool, we don't have the heart to slate it.
